Description
Deliciously fluffy Strawberry Cinnamon Rolls filled with juicy strawberries and warm cinnamon, topped with a creamy glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter until it reaches a warm, melted consistency (about 110°F). Pour the warm mixture into the dry ingredients and add the egg. Mix until well combined, then knead the dough on a floured surface until it’s smooth and elastic, roughly 5-7 minutes.
- Let It Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm environment for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Form the Rolls: After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangular shape (approximately 12×18 inches). Evenly spread the chopped strawberries, followed by the cinnamon and brown sugar mixture over the dough. Roll it up tightly and pinch the seams to seal. Slice the roll into 1-inch pieces.
- Second Rise: Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking pan, leaving some space between each. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise for another 30 minutes until they puff up.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
- Prepare the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whip together the powdered sugar, softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and enough milk to achieve a smooth consistency.
- Serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the warm glaze generously over them and let it soak in for a couple of minutes before serving.
Notes
For make-ahead tips, prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate the rolls before baking. These can also be made gluten-free by using a suitable flour blend.
