Description
A classic Italian dish featuring tender meatballs in a rich marinara sauce served over spaghetti.
Ingredients
- Spaghetti
- Ground Beef
- Breadcrumbs
- Egg
- Parmesan Cheese
- Garlic
- Onion
- Marinara Sauce
- Salt & Pepper
- Olive Oil
- Fresh Basil
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes. Drain and reserve a cup of pasta water for later. Drizzle with olive oil to keep it from sticking together.
- Prepare the meatball mixture by combining ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a tray.
- Brown the meatballs by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, carefully adding the meatballs, and browning for about 5-7 minutes.
- Simmer in marinara sauce by pouring the sauce into the pan with meatballs and allowing it to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Serve by plating the spaghetti and topping it generously with meatballs and sauce, garnished with fresh basil and Parmesan.
Notes
For even better flavor, prepare the meatballs a day in advance and refrigerate. Leftovers can be stored for 3-4 days in the fridge or frozen for up to 3 months.
