Description

A classic Italian dish featuring tender meatballs in a rich marinara sauce served over spaghetti.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti
  • Ground Beef
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Egg
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • Fresh Basil

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes. Drain and reserve a cup of pasta water for later. Drizzle with olive oil to keep it from sticking together.
  2. Prepare the meatball mixture by combining ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, chopped onion, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a tray.
  4. Brown the meatballs by heating olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, carefully adding the meatballs, and browning for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Simmer in marinara sauce by pouring the sauce into the pan with meatballs and allowing it to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve by plating the spaghetti and topping it generously with meatballs and sauce, garnished with fresh basil and Parmesan.

Notes

For even better flavor, prepare the meatballs a day in advance and refrigerate. Leftovers can be stored for 3-4 days in the fridge or frozen for up to 3 months.
