Description

A comforting dish of layered potatoes, savory ham, and creamy cheese, baked to perfection with a golden crust.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté onions and garlic in a large skillet with butter until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Prepare the cream mixture by combining heavy cream and milk, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the ham and cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Pour the cream mixture over the layers, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Bake covered for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Add paprika before serving for garnish.

Notes

Make-ahead by assembling a day in advance and refrigerating. You can also customize with vegetables or use an air fryer.
