Description

A nostalgic Orange Creamsicle Cake bursting with citrus sweetness and creamy frosting, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Candied orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or cooking spray, then lightly dust it with flour.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the orange juice and zest.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, whipping until stiff peaks form.
  8. Frost the cooled cake with the whipped frosting and garnish with candied orange slices.
  9. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Make the cake a day in advance and frost just before serving for the best texture.
