- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and tap to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Beat together cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth for the frosting.
- Frost cooled cake layers generously and serve.
