Description

Indulge in these soft and decadent cookies that fuse rich chocolate with warm spices for a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  3. Cream the softened butter with granulated and brown sugars using an electric mixer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add vanilla extract and egg into the butter mixture, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a cohesive dough forms.
  6. Shape the dough into balls about one tablespoon each and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use coconut oil instead of butter. Consider adding chocolate chips for extra richness.
