Description

Learn how to create delightful mini sourdough loaves that are golden-brown on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside, perfect for any meal or as a standalone snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the active sourdough starter and warm water in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Add the flour and salt gradually, using a spatula or wooden spoon, until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a lightly oiled bowl, covered with a kitchen towel, for 4-6 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) about 30 minutes before baking.
  6. Shape the dough into mini loaves after gently deflating it.
  7. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place the loaves, leaving space between them.
  8. Let the loaves rise again, uncovered, in a warm area for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the dough the night before and letting it rise overnight in the fridge. Consider using an air fryer for an alternative cooking method.
