Description

Delicious and flaky Cranberry Orange Scones, infused with bright tart cranberries and zesty orange for a delightful treat perfect for breakfast or tea time.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the dried cranberries and orange zest.
  5. Whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth and well blended.
  6. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.
  7. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and lightly knead it a few times to bring it together.
  8. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges or rounds.
  9. Place them on the prepared baking sheet with space between them.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Always use cold butter for flakiness and avoid overworking the dough to keep scones light.
