Description

Decadent chocolate muffins with the tangy twist of sourdough, featuring melted chocolate chips in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the sourdough starter, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, and eggs.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gently pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  6. Fill the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store leftover muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
