Ingredients

  • 34 pieces chicken (boneless thighs or breasts)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tsp black pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt (kosher)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, black pepper, minced garlic, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  2. Marinate the chicken: Submerge your chicken pieces in the marinade, coating them thoroughly. Allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Bake the chicken: Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Cook the macaroni: Prepare your macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. Prepare the cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in milk, then gradually add the cheddar cheese.
  7. Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce, transfer into a baking dish, and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake the macaroni & cheese: Bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  9. Serve: Plate the honey pepper chicken alongside the macaroni and cheese.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Using an air fryer can also yield a juicier chicken.
