- 3–4 pieces chicken (boneless thighs or breasts)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp black pepper (freshly ground)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp salt (kosher)
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, black pepper, minced garlic, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
- Marinate the chicken: Submerge your chicken pieces in the marinade, coating them thoroughly. Allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the chicken: Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cook the macaroni: Prepare your macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in milk, then gradually add the cheddar cheese.
- Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce, transfer into a baking dish, and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Bake the macaroni & cheese: Bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Serve: Plate the honey pepper chicken alongside the macaroni and cheese.
Notes
For deeper flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Using an air fryer can also yield a juicier chicken.
