- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar

- 1 3/4 – 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare your 9″x9″ baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 8-10 minutes, then drain the excess fat on paper towels.
- Mix the flour, sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl and whisk them together.
- Add buttermilk gradually, mixing until a sticky batter forms.
- Fold in the cooked sausage and shredded cheese gently without over-mixing.
- Layer the melted butter in the baking dish, then spoon the biscuit dough over the butter.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown, testing with a toothpick for doneness.
Notes
For maximum fluffiness, do not overmix the dough. You can prepare the dough a few hours in advance and refrigerate it before baking.
