Description

This delightful Monte Cristo Breakfast Casserole combines layers of fluffy bread, ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, soaked in a rich custard for a satisfying brunch experience.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces sliced ham
  • 8 ounces sliced turkey
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Warm jam for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half of them in the baking dish.
  3. Layer half of the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread cubes.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, ham, turkey, and cheese.
  5. Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, pressing down to ensure all bread is soaked.
  7. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm jam.
