- 8 slices of bread (preferably challah or brioche)
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 ounces sliced ham
- 8 ounces sliced turkey
- 8 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Warm jam for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes and layer half of them in the baking dish.
- Layer half of the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread cubes.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, ham, turkey, and cheese.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole, pressing down to ensure all bread is soaked.
- Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and set.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve with warm jam.
