Description

Delightful and hearty pita pockets filled with spiced ground beef, fresh vegetables, and creamy tzatziki, perfect for busy weeknights or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 4 pita pockets
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Introduce the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  4. Sprinkle in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, around 6-8 minutes.
  6. Warm the pita pockets in the oven or microwave until pliable.
  7. Assemble each pita pocket with a scoop of the beef mixture, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese.
  8. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce right before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the beef mixture ahead of time and store it separately in the fridge. You can easily reheat it when it’s time to serve.
