Description

A delightful mash-up of classic Caesar salad and a crispy chicken sandwich, perfect for summer picnics or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 brioche buns, split
  • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Tomato slices

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by whisking together the buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Submerge the chicken breasts and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the dredging station with a mix of flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne.
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken in the flour mixture and place coated chicken on a wire rack.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or Dutch oven until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the chicken for about 6–8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Drain the chicken on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
  7. Combine the dressing ingredients: mayonnaise, Parmesan, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper in a bowl.
  8. Emulsify the dressing by whisking in olive oil until smooth.
  9. Toast the brioche buns lightly if preferred.
  10. Assemble the sandwich with dressing, lettuce, fried chicken, shaved Parmesan, and optional tomato slices.
  11. Serve immediately while the chicken remains hot.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. You can also air fry or bake the chicken for a healthier option.
