- 4 cups of diced apples
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1/4 cup of caramel sauce
- 1 packet of fruit pectin
Instructions
- Prepare jars and lids for canning.
- In a large pot, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft, about 15 minutes.
- Add the caramel sauce and fruit pectin, stirring well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Pour the hot jam into prepared jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
- Seal the jars with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
- Let the jars cool completely before storing them in a cool, dark place.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, blend the apple mixture before adding the caramel.
- Adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of the apples used.
- This jam can be used as a filling for pastries or as a topping for ice cream.
