Description

Caramel Apple Jam is a delightful fall treat that combines the flavors of sweet caramel and tart apples, perfect for spreading on toast or using in desserts.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups of diced apples
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup of caramel sauce
  • 1 packet of fruit pectin

Instructions

  1. Prepare jars and lids for canning.
  2. In a large pot, combine diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft, about 15 minutes.
  4. Add the caramel sauce and fruit pectin, stirring well.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Pour the hot jam into prepared jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
  7. Seal the jars with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  8. Let the jars cool completely before storing them in a cool, dark place.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, blend the apple mixture before adding the caramel.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of the apples used.
  • This jam can be used as a filling for pastries or as a topping for ice cream.
