- 4 large yams or sweet potatoes
- 1/2 cup butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel the yams and slice them into uniform rounds, about half an inch thick.
- Layer the yams in a baking dish, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Sprinkle with salt, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Dot the surface with cubes of butter.
- Add water to the bottom of the dish to create steam.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 30-45 minutes or until fork-tender.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to caramelize the sugar.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
