Description
A rich and creamy Cajun shrimp and steak Alfredo pasta that brings together smoky spices with tender shrimp and steak for a delightful culinary experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 200 g ribeye or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 200 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 300 g fettuccine or penne pasta
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Lemon wedges (optional)
Instructions
- Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rapid boil. Add your fettuccine or penne and cook until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, saving a bit of the pasta water for later.
- Sear the Steak: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Toss the thinly sliced steak with 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning, then add it to the skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest.
- Cook the Shrimp: Toss the shrimp with the remaining Cajun seasoning, then add another tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Sauté the shrimp for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the steak.
- Create the Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts into a creamy sauce. Season with additional Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper to taste.
- Combine Everything: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing it in the creamy sauce. Add the seared steak and shrimp back into the pan, mixing everything gently until well combined. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.
- Serve and Garnish: Plate the pasta high and lush, giving it a sprinkle of fresh parsley, a dash of red pepper flakes, and a lemon wedge on the side to squeeze over.
Notes
Consider adding seasonal vegetables for a nutrient boost, and remember to let your steak rest for juiciness.
