- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Mashed potatoes (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine ground beef, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl; mix gently and form into 6-8 patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, brown patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, and transfer to a plate.
- Whisk flour into the same skillet, then gradually add beef broth and milk, stirring until thick and creamy.
- Fold in sour cream and melted butter off the heat.
- Assemble in a greased baking dish: lay patties and pour sauce over.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the sauce bubbles and patties are cooked through.
- Serve over mashed potatoes if desired.
Notes
Make-ahead by preparing steaks and sauce a day in advance. Can also use ground turkey for a leaner option.
